How pricing and payment work
Why is my total an estimate?
Travel prices move all the time. If you've ever watched a hotel rate change while you were still deciding, you know the feeling. So we show you an honest estimate, then book everything at the real price when it's time.
Could I end up paying more than my estimate?
No. The estimate you see is the most you'll pay. If something comes in lower, you pay the lower price.
What do I pay when I check out?
Just your stays. Activities are charged later, after we email you your final plan and final amount. Rental cars are paid to the rental company at pickup.
How does paying for my stays work?
Before anything touches your card, we show you the hotel, your dates, the room, who's staying, the all-in amount, and the cancellation terms. When you confirm, we place an authorization hold on your card and book the room. Once the hotel confirms, we charge only the confirmed amount. If the booking isn't confirmed, we release the hold and you're not charged.
What's an authorization hold?
It's a temporary hold for the amount, not a charge. It turns into a charge only when the hotel confirms your booking, and only for the confirmed amount. If the booking doesn't go through, the hold is released.
How long does the hold last?
We release the hold if the hotel doesn't confirm.
What happens right after I book?
You'll see "Almost there: confirming with the hotel." That usually takes a few minutes. We'll email you as soon as it's confirmed.
How does paying for my activities work?
At checkout, you authorize one future charge for your activities, up to your activity estimate. After checkout, we review your whole plan and email you the final plan and the final amount, with a change-by date. We charge your card once, no earlier than that change-by date, and never more than the amount you authorized. Then we book your activities.
Can I cancel the activity authorization?
Yes, any time before the charge. Just email trips@twz.solutions. If your activities, the maximum amount, or the charge window change in a big way, we'll ask you to authorize again.
How do rental cars work?
We reserve your car with the rental company, and you rent it from them directly. You pay them at pickup, and their terms apply: cancellation, minimum age, their deposit, insurance, and any extra charges. Your plan shows the company, its terms, and an estimate that includes everything except taxes.
Does Twizz charge a fee?
Yes, a service fee of no more than 3%, already built into the prices you see. For stays, you'll never pay more than the hotel's public rate plus 3%. There's nothing extra at checkout, and the fee never goes up.
What if I need to cancel?
See Cancellation and refunds. If you cancel, the terms you saw before booking apply, including supplier penalties. On your own cancellation, disclosed processing costs Twizz cannot recover may be kept, and only those. If Twizz cannot provide what you booked, or described it wrong, you get a refund of the affected part, and a credit only if you ask in writing. If a supplier fails, you get a refund of the full affected part, with one narrow exception described on that page. Twizz keeps no processing deduction when the refund is because of Twizz or a supplier.
